Chalet Hotel Night & Kitchen Porter - Ski Famille:

As a Chalet Hotel Night & Kitchen Porter at Ski Famille, you will play a vital dual role in the smooth evening and early morning operation of our hotel. Reporting to both the Hotel Manager and the Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for maintaining hotel security and cleanliness overnight, as well as supporting the kitchen team in food preparation and hygiene standards. You will play an important role to ensure the security of our hotel at night, as well as cleaning and setting up the dining room for breakfast for the following morning for our hotel guests. You will be responsible for the cleaning of all cutlery, crockery and, utensils; as well as the general cleaning of kitchen equipment and surfaces, ensuring that these are cleaned to a high standard. This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute across departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Set up the dining area for breakfast service, including table settings and buffet layout.
  • Handle the reception of early morning deliveries and liaise with the Hotel Management team in case of emergencies.
  • Ensure the security of the hotel and its guests through overnight access monitoring and regular inspections.
  • Maintain cleanliness of public areas, including the hotel lobby, dining room, bar, and back-of-house areas such as the kitchen.
  • Ensure the cleaning of all crockery, cutlery, utensils, and kitchen equipment, keeping hygiene standards consistently high.
  • Support the kitchen team with basic food prep and mise en place, particularly for the breakfast service.
  • Assist with deep cleaning tasks including fridges, ovens, freezers, and storage areas.
  • Follow Health & Safety and HACCP guidelines at all times, maintaining food safety standards.
  • Communicate positively and consistently with guests, the kitchen staff, and guests to maintain smooth kitchen operations and ensure a welcoming and safe environment overnight.
  • Respond to guest needs or issues with confidence and professionalism.
  • Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and chemical stock, ensuring accurate ordering and usage.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE

  • Must be aged 21+
  • Previous experience in hospitality, catering, or hotel environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and overnight, demonstrating trustworthiness and independence.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • A proactive, positive, and flexible attitude with strong customer service abilities.
  • Fluent spoken English and intermediate French is desirable.
  • Basic cooking knowledge and a strong desire to learn kitchen operations.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A genuine interest in providing a high-quality holiday experience for families with children.
  • Knowledge of snow sports is advantageous.
  • Availability from mid-November to late April.
  • A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (can be completed after a job offer).
  • A current Basic DBS check (to be provided post-offer).
